Do I Sort My Scrap?
If you have different types & grades of scrap metal, try and sort them as best you can before arriving at the scrap yard. This will save you time and effort at the dealers location. Make sure there are as little contaminants attached to your metal to get the best rate.
How Do I Get Paid?
In accordance with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, cash payments are banned. You’ll normally be paid by same day Bank Transfer. Make sure you keep your receipt or ticket. Payments onto your bank card or cheques may be available at some locations.
If your scrap is being collected by a buyer, make sure you get paid before the buyer leaves with your goods.

Delivering To Site
If you have a small quantity of material, many buyers won’t collect & pay due to the cost of fuel, time & manpower involved. Your best bet would be to deliver your goods to a licenced site. You’ll most often be paid a higher rate too.
Your brass will often be weighed in front of you so you can see the weight for yourself.
But if collection is required, we do have members who can help you too.
